Friday at Riley~7/31/09

Austin Geared For BattleAustin will be in surgery tomorrow (friday) at riley to put in his central line and to do a bone marrow test.  please pray for his surgery to go well.  he will also start chemo immediately after surgery and will be at riley until tuesday next week to finish his first round of chemo.  i will be down with them tomorrow so will try to post an update on saturday morning.

Ephesians 1:18-21

18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Good Meeting Yesterday….

The boys gaming

The boys gaming

andy/angie had a good meeting with the docs in chicago.  they said it was a very welcoming/warming meeting for them.  they came home with a plan for austin which starts possibly tomorrow or monday.  the doctor in chicago will be in touch with the docs at riley.  they will begin with putting a central line in and a bone marrow test.  then they will have a couple chemo rounds to shrink the tumor and then if it shrank they will remove it.  he will then start with a new treatment plan.

we are just praising God that a peaceful decision was made for austin!  We just continue to praise God for the miracle of austin and stand firm that God will restore austin’s body again.

I found this scripture that was so encouraging to me:  The key phrase that spoke to me was “he will deliver us again!  Please pray for austin, andy/angie, drew, jw and alyssa as this journey begins for them!  pray for strenght for this battle.

2 Corinthians 1:10-11

He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us.  On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.  You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

This week…..

Andy and Angie are taking Austin up to the University of Chicago to have a second opinion and consult with the #1 leading doctor for neuroblastoma.  a/a are hoping to receive some guidance for a treatment plan for austin.  depending on what the doctor says, austin may or may not have surgery on thursday to remove the tumor at riley.  please pray for a safe trip, wisdom for the doctor to help know what plan we should take for austin, for austin’s pain, no worries for the other small things in day-to-day life.  also, please pray for alyssa as she’s got a fever and not a happy camper and isnt sleeping well….neither is the rest of the household for that matter.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

9But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong!

Update 7/25/09

austin

Andy and Angie (aka “a/a”) did get to meet with their doctor and neurosurgeon yesterday.  All of his tests were clear~nothing in the bones or anywhere else in his body-Praise the Lord!!  But because this is the 3rd time austin’s cancer has relapsed, the doctors laid out a few treatment options/surgery option and they are leaving it up to “a/a” to make a decision on what treatment plan they want for austin.  This is extremely difficult on “a/a” and they feel the weight of the world on their shoulders to make the right decision.  they need to get an answer to the docs by this coming week as to what they want to do.

Would you please pray for them to hear God’s word, for wisdom, comfort, no regrets on their decision.  Pray for austin’s pain~it’s getting worse for him to walk, pray for a miracle:  We are demanding that the devil submit to the Word, to loose his hold and to stop his operations against austin, that this disease will flee his body and that the spirit of death will flee this child of God.

Here are are few devotions for you to read this week:

1.  Go here to read, “Your Angels Are Listening”.

2.  Go here to read, “Your Words Have Power!”

Today Begins The Fight!

We Shot Austin's Tumor!

We Shot Austin's Tumor!

We begin the fight today and ask for prayer these next couple days.  We got some news that wasnt so pleasant last night from austin’s main doctor at riley.  he said that from reading the initial scans the tumor is bigger than we thought and wrapped around his spine.

Please pray for not only austin’s healing but for the doctors salvation and wisdom in determining what treatment plan is right for austin.

LUKE 13:10-17

This sickness was the work of Satan – not the work of God.  The teaching that says that sickness is actually a blessing in disguise, because the Lord is working His plan in one’s life, is not found in scripture. As Acts 10:38 says, Jesus “went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil,” not “oppressed of God.”

There are 17 times in the Gospels when Jesus healed all of the sick that were present. There are 47 other times when He healed one or two people at a time.

Nowhere do we find Jesus refusing to heal anyone. Jesus said that He could do nothing of Himself, but only what He saw the Father do. His actions are proof enough that it is always God’s will to heal!

Jesus provided for physical healing as well as forgiveness of sins. The very word “save” (Gk.-”sozo”) is translated “made whole” in reference to physical healing in Matthew 9:22, Mark 5:34, and Luke 8:48. James 5:15 says “the prayer of faith shall save (Gk.-”sozo”) the sick.” Many scriptures mention the healing of our bodies in conjunction with the forgiveness of our sins.

Healing is a part of our salvation, just as much as the forgiveness of our sins.

It is God’s will that no one should perish. Likewise, it is God’s will that we all be healed, but not all are healed because of failure to believe. It is a mistake to assume that whatever God wills will automatically come to pass. We play a part in receiving from God. Believe His Word today.

This was on my daily devotional found here.

Canoeing Trip w/Friends….

The Canoeing/Kayaking Gang

The Canoeing/Kayaking Gang

Today we took the boys canoeing and kayaking on the Pigeon River in Mongo, Indiana.  We actually went with our good friends and all their kids.  In total we had 8 adults, 10 kids, a puppy, Kenny-Su and Suzie-Ken with 5 canoes and 1 kayak.  The weather was perfect but the water was chilly so i am thankful that no one tipped their boat!

Mr. Wonderful, Jacob and I were in a canoe and Logan went in a kayak.  Logan had a blast!  I actually tried the kayak out before we went down the river and i have to say that it steered much better than a canoe.  It was a 7 mile trip (we pry went 9 miles cause we kept going wrong way and having to turn around) and it took apx. 3 hrs.  You can go here and learn more about the trip~we took the “Curtis Creek” route.  If you have the chance to go with your family this summer it is totally worth it!

Here are a few of our pics of the trip:
